Creative Art Club
Imagine. Create. Grow.
Every Week. A New Adventure.
A place where children can imagine boldly, create freely, and discover their own way of expressing themselves.
Ages 6–8
Art Is More Than Drawing Things “Right”
For children aged 6–8, art education is not simply about learning how to draw a fish, an animal, or a house.
It is also about asking:
Do they dare to imagine?
Do they have ideas of their own?
Are they willing to experiment?
Can they turn an idea in their mind into something they can see and share?
TsingMei Art Studio created Creative Art Club especially for this stage of childhood.
Through a wide range of creative themes, children are encouraged to observe, imagine, explore and create — turning every visit to the studio into a new artistic adventure.
Imagine. Create. Grow.
What Is Creative Art Club?
Creative Art Club is a small-group children's art programme centred on creative expression and artistic exploration.
Every week brings a new theme.
Children may explore:
🌊 Under the Ocean
🦖 Dinosaur Adventures
🚀 Mysterious Planets
🏰 Fantasy Castles
🦊 Animal Worlds
🤖 Future Cities
🧚 Fairy Tales
🐉 Magical Creatures
…and much more.
But what we want children to take home is more than simply a finished picture.
We want them to experience the creative process:
Imagine → Explore → Create → Express
They begin with an idea, explore possibilities, experiment with different ways of creating, and develop an artwork that is uniquely their own.
They also have opportunities to talk about their ideas and share their artwork with their teacher and classmates.
Every Week. A New Adventure.
Creative Art Club does not follow a fixed copying template.
The whole class may explore the same theme, but every child is encouraged to take the idea in their own direction.
For example, during Under the Ocean, one child might create a blue whale.
Another might invent a magical sea creature with three tails.
Someone else might design an underwater castle.
Another child might imagine an entire futuristic city beneath the ocean.
There is no single “correct” answer.
The teacher provides:
- A creative theme
- Inspiration
- Basic methods
- Art materials
- Open-ended questions
The child decides:
“What does my world look like?”
What Children Will Experience
01|Creative Themes
New themes every week to spark imagination.
Rather than repeating the same type of drawing exercise, children explore themes such as:
- Animals
- Nature
- The Ocean
- Space
- Architecture
- Fairy Tales
- Science Fiction
- Future Worlds
- Stories & Characters
Over time, these experiences help children develop a richer visual imagination and their own creative language.
02|Small Group Learning
Guidance that supports each child's ideas.
Creative Art Club is taught in a small-group environment.
Teachers observe each child's creative process and provide guidance according to their ideas, confidence and ability.
We want the teacher to be:
A creative partner, not the provider of a single “right answer”.
When a child is unsure what to do next, the teacher does not simply complete the artwork for them.
Instead, teachers use open-ended questions to help children discover their own ideas:
“What could you add?”
“What happens next?”
“What would you like to change?”
“What makes your artwork special?”
03|Build Confidence
Helping children feel confident expressing their ideas.
Many children are not lacking creativity. They are simply worried about getting it “wrong”.
“My drawing isn't good enough.”
“Mine looks different from everyone else's.”
“What if the teacher says I'm wrong?”
Creative Art Club aims to create a different experience.
We do not judge children's artwork simply by how realistic it looks, and we do not turn the classroom into a competition about who draws the “best” picture.
Instead, we ask:
What was their idea?
Did they try something new?
Did they find their own way to express it?
When a child can confidently say:
“This is my idea.”
that is already an important step in their growth.
04|Take Home Artwork
A new artwork to take home each week.
Each session gives children the opportunity to complete their own artwork inspired by the week's theme.
They can proudly take their work home and build a collection of creative memories as they progress through the programme.
Over time, parents may begin to notice:
- Richer imagination
- Greater confidence in expressing ideas
- More individual colour choices
- More developed stories within their artwork
- Greater confidence in the creative process
What Art Materials Will Children Use?
Creative Art Club introduces children to a range of accessible art materials, including:
🎨 Colour Pencil
🖊 Marker
💧 Watercolour
Children explore how different materials can help them communicate their ideas in different ways.
However, it is important to understand that:
Creative Art Club is not a professional technical art training programme.
We are not turning each lesson into:
“Today we learn realistic coloured-pencil drawing.”
“Today we learn marker blending.”
“Today we learn professional watercolour techniques.”
More structured technical training is better suited to children with a clear and growing commitment to art and forms part of TsingMei Art Studio's more advanced artistic learning pathway.
Creative Art Club focuses instead on:
How children can use art materials to express their own ideas.
A Different Way to Learn Art
We don't want children simply to “follow the teacher”.
A traditional children's art lesson may look like:
Teacher demonstrates → Children copy → Everyone creates a similar picture
Creative Art Club aims for a different process:
Theme → Observe → Imagine → Explore → Create → Express
As a result, even when every child is working on the same theme, their finished artworks can look completely different.
Teacher provides the tools.
Children create the ideas.
Who Is Creative Art Club For?
✔ Children who love drawing but have little formal art experience
A relaxed and creative environment for children who enjoy drawing, painting and making things.
✔ Families who want to encourage creativity
For parents who want their children to do more than learn “how to draw” — and instead develop their ability to think, imagine and express ideas.
✔ Children who enjoy creative freedom
If your child enjoys making their own choices rather than copying exactly what someone else has created, Creative Art Club may be a great fit.
✔ Children who are just beginning their art journey
No professional drawing experience is required.
Creative Art Club is designed to begin with interest, imagination and expression.
What We Believe
Children's art should not always have one correct answer.
A purple whale is okay.
A castle under the ocean is okay.
A planet that rains rainbows is okay.
Because one of the most precious things about childhood creativity is that:
Children still dare to imagine things that adults have learned to think are impossible.
We want to protect that sense of imagination while helping children gradually learn to:
Observe. Create. Express.
Imagine. Create. Grow.
Imagine a world.
Create something that is uniquely yours.
Grow through every creative experience.
